Overview

"'Brooke's holiday' is the second book in the ""What is a Rose?"" series, which is aimed at supporting children in stepfamilies and showing that family is what you make it. Written by Kathryn Reay, who is both a step-daughter and a step-mother, these thoughtful books help children deal with the difficult and embrace the positives in their step families. Brooke finds it difficult splitting her time between two homes, especially when it means missing out on something special. In this uplifting tale Brooke learns to embrace having different traditions in her two homes and reflects on the positives that can come with having two families."

Author Information

Kathryn Reay grew up in the North East of England and like the characters in her books spent her time between two loving homes. As an adult, she now lives in Hertfordshire and is a proud step-mum to her husband's daughter. Kathryn works as a self-employed project management and corporate responsibility consultant and enjoys writing in her spare time. When she's not busy being a step-mum she also enjoys yoga, dancing, cycling and traveling with her husband or catching up with friends and family over delicious meals. Her stories are based on her own experiences growing up and her relationship with her stepdaughter, who she says has made her a better person in ways she could never have imagined.
