Author Information

"Ellen Mayer, author of the Small Talk Books series, is a former Harvard Graduate School of Education researcher and early literacy home visitor. Ellen writes her children's books to entertain and educate both children and the adults who read to them. She holds an MPhil in sociology from Columbia University. She lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Ying-Hwa Hu is an award-winning illustrator with more than 10 books to her credit, including four in Ellen Mayer's Small Talk Books series. She often collaborates with her husband, Cornelius Van Wright, also an illustrator. Their work has been exhibited at the Bologna Book Fair and the Society of Illustrators' ""The Original Art"" show. Together, Ying-Hwa and Cornelius launched Pencil Moon Studio to share their artwork and vision. They are always looking for new ways to bring stories for children to life through the magic of pictures."
