Author Information

Juan Carlos Rivera Quintana (Cuba, 1960) is a writer, journalist, and university professor. He received his degree in Science and Arts in Havana in 1978 and five years later he obtained another degree in Journalism. He later earned a master's degree in Planning and Management of Communication Processes in the National University of La Plata, Argentina. As a journalist he covered the visits of important heads of states to Cuba, including those of Mikhail Gorbachev, JosÃ(c) Eduardo Dos Santos, Daniel Ortega, and Felipe Gonzàlez. For his recognized professional path, he received various awards for his work, including the FÃ(c)lix Elmuza Medal (1996), which is awarded by the Journalist Association of Cuba.
