Author Information

is Professor of Animal Disease Genetics at the University of Edinburgh, and a group leader within University's Roslin Institute and Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies. Over a period of 20 years he has made major contributions to disease genetics across many livestock species, including sheep, pigs, dairy cattle, goats, chickens and Atlantic salmon. Further, he has been active in bringing epidemiological concepts to animal disease genetics. These concepts have been used to predict outcomes of breeding programmes for disease resistance and to more fully analyse and interpret disease data.
