Overview

This book embraces nineteen chapters, beginning with reproduction and mechanism of multiplication with the basic informations. The physiology of breeding mechanism and the environment for fish breeding covered the natural breeding of different varieties of fishes. Under the manipulated breeding, the different types of inducement have been described along with mode of selection of parent fishes and breeding techniques adopted in a number of food fishes. Broodstock development, breeding and seed production of selected marine food fishes like, sea bass, silver pompano, cobia, groupers and rabbit fishes have found place in the book. The necessity of breeding in fish culture and hybridization have been advocated. The gene transfer technology and production of transgenic fish together with different methods of gene transfer have also been explained in details.
