Students came from area schools to spend the day. They experienced McGuffey Readers, slates, copy books, quill pens, and outhouses. The students were anxious to learn about life in olden days. Their interest is what inspired her to write this story. She chose the seventeenth century for the time period, and Jamestown, Virginia for the background. Besides being the first English settlement in America, there were many significant historical events that took place in Jamestown during this time. The story has a touch of this history, but is also about friendship, personalities, and family values. Readers will take a step back in time and will have an appreciation for today's modern conveniences. Ms. Waines is also the author of Summer of Suspense (Davenport Publishing, 2008), and Humpi, the Orphan Camel (Publish America, 2010). Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
