Overview

Bobby Bowden, head coach at Florida State University, has successfully coached college football for five decades. Colorful, opinionated, and brilliant, Bowden is arguably one of the greatest coaches of all time. Now, critically acclaimed journalist Mike Freeman provides an in-depth and insightful look inside the life and mind of the iconic coach and family man. Sweeping and emotional, Bowden not only highlights Bobby’s gridiron glory but also chronicles the family members’ very human events, including tragic deaths, criminal indictments, and loss of jobs and fortunes. But Bowden has remained unfazed by the turmoil around him. Most of all, he has worked to keep his family together. Based on interviews with Bowden and family members, as well as former Florida State University coaches and players, Bowden is the ultimate look at the quintessential football coach.
