Environmental consulting offers the curious combination of blue and white collar tasks, with high earning potential which many achieve. Inspecting buildings or properties, you will probably wear jeans, maybe even the proverbial blue collar shirt. Writing reports, analyzing data, advising clients, and sales are clearly white collar business, technical, or scientific tasks. You may have one office, but enjoy going many places and meeting many people. You may wear a white collar shirt and tie to meet with property owners and managers, then change into a blue collar shirt and jeans to meet with building engineers and tenants, sometimes the same day. Environmental consultants help people with all kinds of buildings and properties - offices, apartments, schools, stores, clinics, hotels, warehouses, hospitals, stadiums, factories, airports, military bases, theaters, and houses. I've even inspected bridges. Few other professions offer as much variety, and therefore as much opportunity, to not only work hard, but to play hard.
