As a foreign correspondent based in Hong Kong, Islamabad, Beijing, Jerusalem, and London, he received the National Association of Government Communicators Award and won a Gold Medal at the International Radio Festivals of New York. He's reported from war zones in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Eastern Ukraine, as well as Tahrir Square in Cairo and Independence Square in Kyiv, and was expelled by the Chinese government for reporting on the Tiananmen Massacre. He also covered the Pentagon for six-and-a-half years, and his expertise earned from reporting on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan informs his fiction writing, which illuminates those conflicts and the broader war on terrorism. A member of Mystery Writers of America, Florida Chapter, the Florida Writers Association, and the Authors Guild, Al Pessin lives with his wife in Delray Beach, Florida. Neil Hellegers grew up in New Jersey and attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a BA in theater arts and a minor in psychology before getting an MFA in acting from the Trinity Rep Conservatory in Providence, Rhode Island.
