As an African-American female, I was very impressed with the emotional depth of this time period piece written by Mrs. Shelton. I felt that this author revealed to us the very essence of each and every one of her characters. To read about them was to know them, to feel their joy and pain, to hope that all received their just reward. It is a must-read for my book club and for many others, I am sure. I started reading Blinders on Sunday afternoon and literally couldn't put it down until I finished it at almost midnight that night. The story grabbed me in the very first chapter and the twists and turns kept me turning the pages all day, eager to find out how the story would unfold. The detail and development of the characters, their story and its historical context left me wanting more --I was sad when I reached the end and realized that I had inhaled it all in one day instead of savoring it over several! It was such a delight to read a fresh, new author who writes with such emotion and depth and allows her story to spill out on the page -- if you're tired of the formulaic novels of so many popular authors today, you'll find Blinders to be a refreshing change. 5 Stars Simplicity Meets Depth. Though I could have read this book in a day or two, I purposefully chose not to. My heart wanted to linger on the story as long as it would allow. I always crave a story that teaches me something but doesn't force it upon me. This story does just that. Not only does it enlighten, but it does so through such words that one can really understand and yet still pulls me into a strong depth of meaning. Simplicity meets depth. That is the make-up of Kristy Shelton's Blinders. 5 Stars So Enjoyable!! This book held my attention from start to finish. I became emotionally involved with the characters and cried or laughed as their lives developed. The book is now making the rounds through all the female members of my family. Each has had the same response - when is the author writing another? Would immediately purchase another book written by this author! 5 Stars

Kristy Shelton is a long-time teacher, coach, and mission leader at Greater Atlanta Christian School. She and her husband, Cliff, live in Duluth, Georgia. Despite her busy lifestyle, writing has fulfilled a deep creative need from within. She considers The Blinders Trilogy to be a gift from God, pure and simple. Kristy has written several other wholesome books including the Double Dare Circle (for tweens and teens), Restitution, and The Final Inning.
