Overview

"Bird Food for Life is a book of: mystery, magic, real Life-lessons, discovery, and re-discovery; it is written in plain English, on plain white paper, with a little juxtaposition; so, I invite you to bring along your very own link-pen, a couple bright-colored markers, and to sit-back, relax, and be prepared to do some thinking along the way. These little-stories will benefit from your very-own active participation in the process of discovery and rediscovery; so, please feel free to add your very own color, texture, flavor, and savor with added emphasis for everyone's benefit. Everybody has a story to tell and this world will be better off when we can all feel free to share our lives in a more neighborly way. This book of little-stories is a small part of a deeper dive into the Engagement opportunities that abound all around each and every single day. Please read, feed, seed, and delight in these little-stories and in your very own Life story. ""Have a good day, and CHEERS to YOU!!"""

"""Joyce Hill from the front desk says: Bird Food for Life has been so much fun to read. Larry has taken a lot of little everyday Life events and realizations, and has created a storybook of his very own, that for me has been full of inspiration, education, and charm, and he has presented it in a thought-provoking manner. It is a great collection of little stories that you will want to read from cover to cover, just like I did the other morning while riding my exercise bike. So, pour yourself a cup of coffee, tea, brandy, whiskey, or wine and curl up in your favorite chair in front of the fireplace, then sit back, relax, read, and feed on the full measure of what it is that has been given to us here in this life of ours."" Joyce Hill: Christian, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend, aunt, stage 4 cancer survivor (thank you Jesus!), tennis player, retired human resource manager, receptionist, and bird food believer. . . . ""Liu da' Mee la' from Ukraine says, 'Everybody has the right to express their own experience and world view in their own way here in America, and Larry has done that through these little stories which are sometimes sad, sometimes happy, sometimes funny, and many times revealing.'"" Liudmyla Aleksandrycheva: mother, daughter, sister, friend, mechanical engineer, walker, talker, lover of Life, and so much more. ""These little stories are truly Larry. He has written them in his own unique and creative way, which has been more than fun and meaningful for us to read as a family. After my husband's motorcycle accident, I did not know how we would ever make it, but Larry's stories came at the right time, and they have been meaningful for us in reimagining what is truly possible. Larry has poured out his heart and Life here in these little stories in a very informative, inspiring, and thought-provoking manner."" Margie Brodowy: daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, camper, caregiver, and Bird Food Believer. ""This man Larry is so much more than a physical therapist. He cares and he shares through his words, his manner, his presence, and his physical therapy. Reading his little stories in this nursing home has shown me that real, important, and complicated matters can actually be talked about and understood from a lighter, brighter, and more beneficial perspective. My name is ""Joy,"" and it has been my joy to know, learn from, get to work with, and to read Larry's little stories in allegory."" Joy Rasmussen: 87-year-old swing bed patient, former farmer, teacher, writer, thinker, liver, and lover of Life. ""These little stories have helped me to rediscover the beauty that abounds all around as I flit and fly here, there, and nearly everywhere across this vast and grand land."" Little bird ""B o b,"" liver, flyer, and lover of Life on the wire and in the sky."

Author Information

Larry Plant, PT, has worked in healthcare as a physical therapist for over thirty years, and that has given him a glimpse onto the deeper meaning of Life. He has always enjoyed writing little stories, sharing and caring for those in his midst, but nothing like what has happened to him through the writing of this book. Larry has discovered that he has many meaningful, instructive, and quite humorous little stories to share with people, which are enlightening, worthwhile, and funny on many different levels. He has come to realize that nearly everyone has a story of value to tell that could quite possibly provide a much-needed spark of light and Life to the people in their midst. Life is beautiful! It is all that we have, and through these little stories, Larry has been able to connect, converse, and get engaged with people far and wide along his current pathway of Life. He now wants to open the door for others to get engaged in Life through stories in allegory by allowing for greater participation, appreciation, and engagement, which happens at the threshold of personal concern, connection, and care for another. This happens once we see each other as human beings, alive, in need, and worthy of our care, kindness, and love.Larry is grateful for his Life and the opportunities that have been afforded to him through a healthy dose of grace and a small slice of his own participation. He has learned that the most important thing in Life is to show up; knowing that that will look different for each and every person. His best friend and companion, Liu-da' Mee-la'' from Ukraine, came into Larry's meager life at a very meaningful time, and she was the one to throw open the doors to a much greater appreciation and grasp upon the true meaning of Life and freedom for all. Thank you, my little Liu-da' Meee-la'!
