OverviewIn the Chichico River micro-watershed, located in the Tarqui parish of the city of Puyo, various human activities such as agriculture, cattle ranching and settlements have generated negative environmental impacts. These include the alteration of water quality, loss of aquatic biodiversity, and health risks for those who use it. To address these problems, macroinvertebrate sampling and physicochemical water analysis were conducted. Parameter values such as BOD and DO were found to be outside the norm, affecting the survival of macroinvertebrates and the suitability of the water for human consumption. An Environmental Management Plan with 6 programs is proposed to mitigate these impacts.
