Overview

"""This is a fascinating book, and a real eye-opener. An important work, and endlessly captivating."" Dr. Tamsin Woolley-Barcker, Biomimcry expert. This book is the result of more than 20 years of experimental study of individual behaviour of ants in their natural environment. Have you ever thought that millions of years of evolution can happen in a week time? Ants can do this due to their amazing behavioural plasticity. You will be surprised that ants are personalities, they work in teams, have leaders and enjoy weekends off. They are able to take creative decisions and adjust colony management style to environmental changes. Ants ""know"" the secrets of survival in social and ecological catastrophes that makes their societies potentially immortal. This is what we want to achieve in business management, do we? Fundamental natural laws for business management crown this book and provide the bridge between people and nature."

Author Information

"Olga A. Bogatyreva is an expert in socio-biology, organisational behaviour and group decision making, in which she has more than 100 publications. She has a DSc in Complexity Theory and a PhD in Biology. As an internationally recognised expert in the ""Theory of Inventive Problem Solving"" (TRIZ), Olga has sold two patents on laboratory equipment designed specifically for the research presented in this book. Complex system management is impossible without an inventive approach, and Olga has developed a range of tools for innovative management. Her original methods have been validated in projects with industry in Europe and Japan. Running the consultancy company BioTRIZ Ltd, Olga, together with other Directors, runs training sessions in creativity, invention and bio-inspired design all over the world and teaches at the University of Bath, UK. Alexandr E. Shillerov was a highly qualified engineer with 40 years experience in the civil construction industry. Alexandr had two degrees - in civil engineering design and mathematics. His scientific interests were in the field of differential geometry: geometric aspects of the theory of differential equations. As the CEO for over 20 years of a design bureau for developing new machinery for building block production, Alexandr Shillerov needed to manage the entire network of the research and manufacturing process. The need to manage such complex production networks of people and technologies urged him to seriously study network planning, design methods and Complexity Theory. Biology was his second passion after mathematics and this lucky combination led to the birth of this book."
