OverviewBerkeley ist ein ehemaliger britischer Hersteller von Automobilen. Das Unternehmen Berkeley Cars Limited, das bisher Wohnwagen produzierte, begann 1956 in Biggleswade in Bedfordshire mit der Produktion von Automobilen. 1961 wurde die Produktion eingestellt. Es wurden sportliche Kleinwagen hergestellt, zumeist offene Fahrzeuge, selten Coup s. Der Begriff Kleinwagen bezeichnet in Europa die Fahrzeugklasse zwischen Kleinstwagen und Kompaktklasse. Typische Vertreter sind der VW Polo, der Opel Corsa, der Fiat Punto und der Ford Fiesta. In den 1950er und 1960er Jahren stand die Bezeichnung Kleinwagen f r deutlich kleinere Fahrzeuge, die Gattung oberhalb der Rollermobile. Charakteristisch f r Kleinwagen war damals ein Zweizylindermotor mit einem Hubraum von ca. 600 bis 700 cm und einer Motorleistung zwischen 20 und 30 PS (15 bis 22 kW).
