About the Author Mike served in the Oklahoma legislature for over 15 years, where he chaired the powerful House budget committee. Falling prey to a gambling addiction, he left office in disgrace pleading to one count of mail fraud and later serving two years in a federal prison. Born in 1951, he was raised on a small farm in the quiet hills of southeast Oklahoma where he and his seven siblings shared daily chores. The small farm chores, combined with a family which was half protestant and half Roman Catholic, led to a background rich in diversity. A well-known orator, Mike is often referred to as the poor man's Will Rogers. His life's challenges have been real and not always positive and what he says comes straight from the heart.
