OverviewDie Belle of Louisville ist ein historischer Raddampfer. Besitzer und Betreiber ist die Stadt Louisville, Kentucky. Das Schiff bef hrt den Ohio River und liegt w hrend der Schifffahrtsaison von Mai bis Oktober am zentralen Anlegeplatz von Louisville. Urspr nglich unter dem Namen Idlewild von James Rees & Sons Company in Pittsburgh f r die West Memphis Packet Company 1914 erbaut, befuhr es zuerst den Allegheny River. Die Konstruktion besteht aus einer festen Stahlh lle mit asphaltiertem Deck. Mit einem dadurch resultierenden Tiefgang von nur ca 1,5 m ist es dem Schiff m glich, fast jedes Gew sser um Louisville zu befahren. Kein anderes Fluss-Dampfschiff hat mehr Orte angefahren und Kilometer zur ckgelegt und war dabei l nger in Dienst als die Belle of Louisville. Am 10. April 1970 wurde das Schiff in den National Register of Historic Places aufgenommen und seit 1989 ist es als National Historic Landmark eingestuft.
