Overview

Die Bell XP-77 war ein Prototyp eines leichten Jagdbombers und entstand 1944 aus der Bef rchtung der US-amerikanischen Regierung heraus, dass kriegswichtige Stoffe knapp werden k nnten. So bestand das Flugzeug (zuerst Bell Tri-4) genannt) vorwiegend aus Holz; ein kleiner V-12-Motor lieferte den Antrieb. Am 1. April 1944 erfolgte der Erstflug; doch schon Ende des Jahres wurde das ganze Projekt eingestellt.
