Motherly Meals on Meager Means was written by Lori Powell Gordon with help from her son John. It comes complete with Post-it notes on each page, sometimes related to the recipe or about buying and storing food. A number of the notes include a cute P.S., like So what happened to the tall boy with the nose ring? He seemed so nice. Or Billy, I called early Sunday morning and your girlfriend answered. Were you already at church? The individual recipes include a By the Way at the bottom that is somehow realated to the recipe - although sometimes very loosely. Every so often there is a short essay like Dear Mom and Dad in which Billy explained about his semester grades. I enjoyed reading this book, and the recipes were well written.
