Beber un cáliz does not belong to conventional currents of literature. It is not a short story, not a novel, not prose poetry: it is a truthful testimony about the pain of seeing a former mountain of splendors and anguish atrociously turn into nothing. This testimony is, at the same time, family memory and existential reflection: the father figure collapsing, childhood memories, guilt, and filial love intertwine in a narrative where writing becomes an act of mourning.
