Philip Birtles worked in the aerospace industry for many years and has had a continuing interest and love of both civil and military aircraft, most particularly the Avro Vulcan and the Concorde, both legendary British aircraft. He has written several books for Ian Allan Publishing including Postwar Military Aircraft 5: De Havilland Vampire, Venom and Sea Vixen, Concorde, Modern Civil Aircraft: 6 Boeing 757/767/777, and The Avro Vulcan: Britain's Cold War Warrior.
