Overview

Java is a trade-route island, whose 2,000 year old history has been influenced by a succession of religions and waves of colonisation. Each left its imprint on Javanese culture and the development of batik. The author takes the reader on a spellbinding tour of the island and on a discovery of batik history and motifs.
