OverviewBen Franklin's autobiography was edited, in part or in full, by a host of people, including his son, people he knew in France, and scholars all over the place. In some cases, the editors were a bit embarrassed about what Franklin wrote, and in other cases, they were certain they knew better than Franklin what he was trying to say. Fine spent considerable time and effort tracking down snippets and sections of Franklin's original, unedited work. This book is the result. It is both fascinating and fun to read. Do remember that for much of Franklin's life, the United States did not exist. As a result, many words that end in ed, such as wanted, are spelled without the e. Wanted ends up being want'd. Once you get the hang of it, it's easy to read.
