Reviews

This work is more thorough and clinically oriented than other texts on the topic. I believe this is a text that every graduate student will keep in their library for the rest of their practice. The text provides practice clinical scenarios that are not available in other texts and clinical worksheets for students. The theories that other texts cover are included here but more detail is provided in this text. The author also includes more information on vowels than other texts... including development, assessment and remediation of errors. I am very impressed by the current information available in this text on apraxia of speech and the inclusion of information about pan Asian language, Spanish dialects and recent information about remediating phonological disorders.... I would definitely adopt this text. - Christine Fiestas, Texas A&M-Kingsville This chapter [ Therapy for Articulation-Based Speech Sound Errors ] is an excellent resource for students and practicing clinicians. It is the primary reason why I use this book and strongly recommend that students who think they might end up working with children keep the book. The amount of useful detail regarding the individual phonemes is invaluable. -Tim Brackenbury, Bowling Green State University I think the organization of this book is great and easy to read. I think the presence of all the clinical applications and the test questions at the end of the chapter is great. The more practice with examples the better. - Carol Tessel, Florida Atlantic University The text is comprehensive, clearly written and well organized; The clinical examples are well done-The video links with related questions will be valuable to students. - Maria Grigos, New York University I like how the beginning of this chapter [ Therapy for Articulation-Based Speech Sound Errors ] is structured, with good advice and tips for each stage in the articulation-based approach. The in-depth discussion of how both correct and incorrect productions are made is a major strength of this textbook.... The chapter [ Treatment of Phonemic-Based Speech Sound Disorders ] provides an excellent overview of a large number of phonological therapy techniques. -Peter Richtsmeier, Oklahoma State University
