Overview* A detailed history of Hilter's personal Bodyguard Regiment *Complete with over 300 rare and original photographs of Hitler's personal bodyguards The Leibstandarte was Adolf Hitler's personal Bodyguard Regiment, and independently participated in combat during the Invasion of Poland. By the end of World War II it had been increased in size from solely a regiment to a full Panzer division. This elite division was a component of the Waffen-SS, found guilty of war crimes in the Nuremberg Trials. The Ardennes Offensive was launched towards the end of World War II through the forested Ardennes Mountains region of Belgium, France and Luxembourg on the Western Front, and was the final major offensive and last gamble Hitler was to make. The Leibstandarte SS was to be the spearhead of the entire operation in the Ardennes. Mathieu Longue's detailed history of the Leibstandarte task force engaged in the Battle of Ardennes gives a comprehensive overview of the unit that was involved in combat actions in the Stavelot sector. Longue supplements his exhaustive account of the group's actions with 300 rare and original photographs.
