OverviewAs the Arctic opens for oil & gas drilling, we are left contemplating is oil really the most valuable resource in the Arctic? Or rather is the dwindling fresh water supply that runs off of arctic glaciers as they melt actually a more valuable commodity in the long term? As oil and gas companies contemplate midstream pipelines to transport oil & gas, would a strategic strategy be to pipe in the water from the Arctic as well? Would storing this water in the lakes and aquifers of the United States of America increase national security? Could this strategy bring peace between environmentalists and oil & gas business tycoons? Water is a precious natural resource. Letting fresh water melt into the sea may not be the most prudent strategy that we could pursue as a species on planet earth at the given time.
