Reviews

"This is another delightful book in the ""First Children of Farmington Books,"" by Lisa Lickel. Although this is a work of fiction, the author has researched the times and people portrayed in this children's book. In ""The Irish Girl,"" the reader learns more about the early settlers of Boltonville, including Ann Riley, who was reportedly the first child born of European or American settlers to the community. The author paints a beautiful picture of the pioneer families during this time. I can just picture Grandfather Murphy sucking on his corncob pipe and blowing smoke through his round mouth as he tells stories about ""the hills of County Meath in Ireland"" to Ann and her friend, Katie. - Carol Round"
