His father, Enos Moo-Young was a well loved and respected accountant, a Jamaican born descendant of the Hakka people from China. Mooji's mother, Euphemia Bartlett, was from the maroon people from the Blue mountains of north eastern Jamaica.Anthony had an extraordinarily close relationship with his father, who passed away suddenly when he was only nine years old. He says of his father Enos, ""From my father I knew nothing but kindness and love.""As a teenager Mooji moved to the UK where, after completing college in Waterloo, London, he worked for 7 years as a street portrait artist in Central London and later, as a stained glass maker, and fine arts teacher at Brixton College in South West London.Mooji experienced a profound, life changing awakening in 1987. In 1993, he travelled to India where he met his teacher, Sri HWL Poonja (affectionately known as Papaji), who brought him into the heart understanding of the Self.Mooji's life is dedicated to guiding sincere seekers of Truth through spontaneous encounters, gatherings and retreats world-wide since 1998 till the present time.
