However, he eventually found fame with the Subs, building up a formidable, devoted fan following through his unrelenting love of gigging. Many now refer to Charlie as 'The Godfather of Punk', a fitting moniker to one of the most likeable personalities who has stayed true to that DIY punk ethic.
