OverviewA recent study analyzes the socio-environmental dynamics of agricultural systems in Brazil and Venezuela, highlighting the strategic role of family farming in rural sustainability and food security. Based on a review of the scientific literature, the study emphasizes that agriculture is not only a productive activity, but also a social and environmental process that articulates the use of natural resources, cultural practices and livelihood strategies of rural populations, showing that, in both countries, family farming contributes significantly to food production, biodiversity conservation and the resilience of agrifood systems. The study concludes that strengthening family farming, together with integrated public policies and territorial approaches, is essential to promote more sustainable, inclusive and resilient agricultural systems in Latin America.
