The movers just drove away and suddenly you have to pay the bills, arrange the furniture, and take care of the car. You told your family (parents or children) you could take care of it yourself but you might have been stretching the truth a bit. Life is full of challenges and it doesn't come with an instruction manual. Managing life the first time out of the house, or during the changes brought on by children entering or exiting your life, even facing the challenges of getting old, isn't easy. While we can search the internet for any topic, we wonder if we can trust the information we find. Most people have an instruction guide person in their life that won't laugh when they ask how do I write a check, and won't judge them when admitting they don't know how to do laundry. I'm one of those people. I regularly hear adulting sucks from the emerging adults in my life as they show up for help mom conversations and maybe dinner too. Life has forced me to figure things out encouraging me to share them with others as my brain runs out of space for more lessons. Adulting Doesn't Have To Suck provided a place to pull out the information and share it with the kids in my life. Others will find a tip or trick that can help ease them through life as an adult. Remember to share your knowledge with others and find ways to make life fun!

In 2008 Pat's mind began shoving out images, scenes, and words. She hoped putting them on paper would make them stop. However, when you turn on the water, it just keeps coming and so did the words. Moving from spiral notebooks to a computer allowed the words to form more efficiently. In a short 5 1/2 years she wrote the fifteen novels that would form the Chalice Princess series. Ready to get her feet wet in the publishing world she signed with a local speculative publisher. In November 2016, they brought the first book to life (Chalice Moon) and she began to learn the world of publishing. Working with the author team she led a two-year giving back program called It's All About Writing. Appearing in local libraries the group taught and recorded videos to share what we'd learned with other budding writers. While writing short stories and editing the Chalice Princess series, the millennials in her life peppered her with life challenges as they began moving from their parent's homes and college dorms into apartments and houses. They regularly complained that adulting sucked as they came to see mom and grab a banana chocolate chip pecan muffin (yummy). Lessons on making money, paying bills, even how to keep the house clean, poured out as she happily tried to influence this new generation of adults to become organized and efficient. After a few life interruptions, Pat focused on finishing up what would become the two Adulting Doesn't Have To Suck! books to keep the kids in her life happy.
