A Visitor from the Past

Overview

When sixteen-year-old Sarah begins exploring the mysterious, abandoned Allison Mansion perched above Spirit Lake, she has no idea that her curious weekend visits will awaken spirits of the past, especially that of Charles Allison, a young aristocrat whose tragic death during a steeplechase race left a legacy buried in silence. With the help of a dusty family journal, hidden portraits, and an unexpected kiss from a ghost, Sarah is drawn into unraveling the mansion's storied history and restoring its faded grandeur. As she takes on the role of caretaker, Sarah not only brings life back to the grand estate but also uncovers secrets about her own lineage that connect her more deeply to the Allison legacy than she ever imagined. With the companionship of her loyal dogs, the reluctant help of her cowboy friend Case, and the wisdom of her spirited grandmother, Sarah must navigate the blurry line between memory and haunting, between imagination and truth. Set against the rich countryside of England and steeped in ghostly energy, this coming-of-age tale is full of adventure, heart, and history. 'A Visitor From the Past' blends the supernatural with family legacy, first love, and the courage it takes to embrace the unknown. About the Author Marilyn Elaine Brooks grew up in Elizabeth, New Jersey. As a 12-year-old, she loved to spin stories about horses to her parents and begged for riding lessons. So, while all her classmates went bowling on Saturday, Marilyn's father acquiesced and took her to Watchung Riding Stables. The story began back when she told her parents that one of her classmates had a horse in their garage, a tale they didn't believe. Marilyn wrote short stories then and poetry. So now we have the first book. Hope you enjoy it.
