OverviewPeter Knight, a young businessman, who has recovered from his near-death experience of a couple of years ago, is returning to Hong Kong to try and seal another contract for his company. On the flight, he meets June Wilson, the wife of an ex Hong Kong police sergeant. Sadly her husband had died a year ago and she was returning to Hong Kong to revisit her earlier life spent with her husband. She is taking Tara, their daughter, on what was supposed to be a sentimental holiday. June wanted to start a fresh page in her life and had chosen to visit at the time of the spring Lantern Festival. Traditionally during the festival Red Lanterns are released symbolizing the letting go of the past ready to embrace a positive future full of good luck and prosperity. Unfortunately, when they arrive an old vendetta is invoked by the son of an imprisoned Chinese gang leader. The sequel to the kidnapping of the daughter was punishment for the imprisonment of his father. It was not to be a simple execution but a living fate worse than hell. Peter Knight becomes involved and with the help of an old colleague of Sergeant Wilson tries to neutralise the vendetta and seeks to achieve Tara's release from hell. Does he succeed and who falls by the wayside? Does June achieve her supplication to the gods?
