Overview

A Ray of Hope tells the story of Ray McSoley, a pioneer of 50 years working in the field of dog behavior therapy. This book opens your mind and heart to what Ray simply calls Quiet Firmness, the secret to his seemingly mystical success helping dogs with people problems. Written with empathy, wisdom, understanding and sprinkled with laugh-out-loud humor, the book reads like Ray is sitting with you at your kitchen table talking dogs. Join this highly gifted dog man as he travels the U.S. Canada, England and India, helping some of his more than 24,000 clients solve their troubled dogs' issues by a process of gaining and giving mutual trust and respect, along with a clear leader presence. Called the last resort by many dog owners, the man truly is a ray of hope.

Author Information

Ray McSoley is a dog behaviorist. The dogs have been his life for the past 50 years. Since March of 1974 he has been ""helping dogs with people problems"". For twelve years prior he was involved in the transportation industry, but his avocation back then was running his own dogs in retriever field trials. In 1984 he was asked to start a behavior department at Boston's famed Angell Memorial Animal Hospital. His first book, Dog Tales, was published in 1988 and a year later was selected to be a part of the Literary Guild. Since then his practice has taken him to 17 states as well as Canada and the Maritimes, England and India. A Ray of Hope is the product of his travels and those thousands of dogs and their owners who both honored and trusted him to help them. It is his wish that this book will be a guide for both you and your dog towards gaining that relationship you had always hoped for but never thought you would achieve.
