Ayers considers electrical circuits to be one of his passions. He earned the BSEE from the University of Maine in 1984 and the MSEE and PhDEE from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1987 and 1990, respectively. His industrial experience includes Fairchild Semiconductor, National Semiconductor, Phillips Laboratories, and Epitax Engineering.
