OverviewThe book is a well written and a very good insight into the daily life of an infantryman. The author brings a sense of reality to his first hand experiences being an infantryman during WWII. Highly recommend this book to family members of those who served in the infantry or readers who desire to have better knowledge of these experiences. The engaging, humble and straightforward memoirs of a Vet of the fabled Thunderbird Division in World War II encompassing the last six months of the war. From attempting to hide his sight challenges and enlist in the USA, through the challenges of basic training, to the horrors and pathos of combat along with post war experiences in a defeated nation, the author never fails to engage the reader with his true feelings and even an occasional bit of humor. Anyone interested in knowing what WWII was like for the average (whatever that it) GI will want to read this short book and will not be disappointed.
