Overview

Set against the world of commercial property, the stories follow the career of Rupert Brett, commercial surveyor and TA soldier. The third book is set in 1994/95 against the start of the Sub-Prime madness that will later rock the financial world as never before. It does for the commercial property world what Suits and Grisham have done for the law Traversing continents and countries, with the death of Escobar in Colombia and the decimation of the IRA due to the Dirty War, both groups unite in a world of drugs and corruption, with new drugs routes opening. Starting with a drugs bust in the Irish Sea and from the polo fields of Deauville to Palm Beach, the story runs from Colombia to Florida. Drugs are being smuggled with links to the world of commercial property and polo . The UK government need someone on the inside that can ask questions and fit into this world. Once again they call on Rupert Brett to help them in what seems a safe, benign role. Chris Adams is again tasked with body guarding Rupert, a role that the government deem unnecessary and mixing business and pleasure with his wife in Palm Beach Rupert realising the depth of corruption and danger of the world he has entered and is glad of the protection of SAS sergeant Chris Adams. An MI6 operative is found murdered and what began as a general assignment turns into links with drug cartels & FARC, with corruption and smuggling on a huge scale. An IRA enforcer Tir Brennan escapes from jail and arrives in America bent of revenge; and an old nemesis of Brett and Adams returns from the past, throwing their world into danger. A showdown in Florida between the drug cartels and Brennan puts all their lives in danger and threatens not just Brett but that of his wife, Claire Brett.

Reviews

Fairfax does for commercial proeprty what Grisham and Suits has done for the law A great sense of place, makes you want to visit the countires wher his books are set. I don't think you can tire of Simon Fairfax's writing style and the way he sucks you into the story Read it at one sitting. Great pace and significant credibility - made a for a good train journey

Author Information

As a lover of crime thrillers and mystery, I turned what is seen by others as a dull 9 - 5 job into something that is exciting, as close to real life as possible, with Rupert Brett, my international man of mystery whose day job is that of a Chartered Surveyor. Rupert is an ordinary man thrown into extraordinary circumstances who uses his wit, guile and training to survive. Each book is written from my own experiences, as close to the truth as possible, set against world events that really happened. I go out and experience all the weapons, visit the places Rupert travels to, speak to the technical experts and ensure that it as realistic, as possible allowing you to delve deep in to the mystery, losing yourself in it for a few hours.
