OverviewThis text looks at calcerous nannofossils, the microscopic (<60 micro metres) remains of marine plankton (mainly algae). Nannoplanktonic ooze forms an important component of many deep marine sediments from the Mesozoic onwards. Chalk is the best-known example. Apart from their economic importance, members of thsi heterogeneous group are also vital in both pure and applied stratigraphic interrelation of deep marine sediments, as well as in palaeoenvironmental interpretation. As such they are of growing importance in oil exploration, oceanography, palaeoceanography and palaeoclimatology. Full Product DetailsAuthor: Paul R.
