Author Information

Darwin Hamilton, is a senior accountant having served in state government for two decades. His personal mission is to change criminal justice policies and practices and reduce the stigma of formerly incarcerated people. He does this through his own example, and through his inspiring and powerful story-telling. Since 2012, he has worked as an activist, advocate and strategist on state and local criminal justice policy reform and provided technical assistance to the University of Texas, municipal agencies and delivered keynote speeches for social justice organizations. He has testified before Austin City Council and House Committees of the Texas Legislature. He currently serves on the board of directors for Grassroots Leadership as program chair. He is a graduate of the 2018 cohorts of Leadership Austin - Essential program and JustLeadership USA and co-chairs, the Reentry Advocacy Project (RAP).
