Overview

Grammy Award-winning and longtime music industry executive, personal manager, and author Vicky Hamilton-who garnered acclaim for her Appetite For Dysfunction memoir (recently optioned by Electric Panda which is working with a prominent writer to develop the book for television)-has set her sights on a new medium with her forthcoming book VEILED ALLUSIONS. It's a collection of poetry set for release via Ingram Spark on November 21, 2024. The 50-plus poems in VICKY's second book represent ""me at 15 through me at 66,"" she says.""Poetry was my first love,"" VICKY adds. ""I started writing poetry in junior high school and continue to write poems today. I tried to pick the best poetry I had written over my lifetime for this book and included a few of my early poems to show my growth.""

Reviews

A must read for anyone going into the music business or moving to Los Angeles. Success is dangerous. It makes people weak and sometimes even creates monsters. Being in that kind of fuckery, like forever, I guess Vicky needed to say things as she sees them. As luck would have it, she's a badass writer, so instead of singing she spills the beans in feverish poetry. And Vicky! (to misquote Hank Moody): it's not your fault, you're like fly paper for the emotionally disturbed. Martin Svensson - writer of autobiographies for Perez Hilton, Matt Sorum, Samantha Fox, Christopher McDonlad, etc, and writer of songs for Avicii and ATRON, etc. Vicky Hamilton not only survived the music industry, she outlived the music industry, and now she's made a xylophone out of its bones to play her own brash, broken, hopeful music on, while she uses its skull as a toilet. -Dan O'Keefe - writer for television and online product reviews In Veiled Illusions for the Innocent and the Guilty, the legendary former manager of Guns N' Roses rips open the curtain on the madness behind the music. With a voice sharpened by the raw energy of rock 'n' roll and the wounds of a life lived on the edge, Hamilton weaves tales of despair, desire, and redemption. These poems aren't just words on a page-they're a battle cry from someone who's seen it all, lived it all, and walked away with scars. Hamilton's verses are raw, feverish, and brutally honest, a relentless dive into the chaos where innocence shatters and guilt festers. This isn't just poetry; it's a confession, a reckoning, and a warning. If you think you can handle the truth, step inside-but be prepared to confront the monsters that success creates. -Yas Taalat - Film Producer & Recording Artist You can always count on Vicky Hamilton to deliver the goods and in this book of salacious insight, she tells it like it is and I wouldn't want it any other way. Welcome to the jungle baby. Caroline McElroy / writer / Journalist
