Born near Leningrad, Andrey Kurkov was a journalist, prison warder, cameraman, and screenplay writer before becoming a novelist. His books include the National Book Critics Circle Award winner Grey Bees, and Death and the Penguin, his first novel to appear in English, which was an international bestseller and has been translated into forty-two languages. In addition to his fiction for adults and children, he has become a commentator and journalist reporting on Ukraine for the international media. He lives in Kyiv with his British wife and their three children. Boris Dralyuk is an award-winning translator and the executive editor of the Los Angeles Review of Books. Josh Bloomberg, an Earphones Award-winning narrator, is a trained professional actor with extensive audiobook experience as a director and narrator.
