The Mammoth Sunflower

Overview

The Mammoth Sunflower is a soul-stirring piece of American Literature that reflects on the human experience within leader-centered and idealistic societies, on discovery, and on the divine strength of sincerity. In this brief yet profound work, Jensen invites readers on a roughly 30-minute journey drawing parallels between the life cycle of the mammoth sunflower and the life cycle of what he calls ""Sincere Individuals"" in an honest pursuit toward truth. Rooted in lyrical prose, poetic nature writing, wordplay, and symbolic allusions sowed throughout, this modern experimental allegory strikes a note calling for a ""return to the natural""-to the ""Earth,"" or in other words, to our own ""Souls."" Through its unique format and symbolism, The Mammoth Sunflower does not just tell a story-it becomes a living text and encourages readers to teach themselves their own lessons, to reflect, and ultimately to sing their own songs, forever. An undeniable emphasis is placed on his belief in the importance of being a teacher and yet that the best lessons in life are the ones we teach ourselves. With the other core beliefs of this text being ""Sincerity is Divinity"" and that ""There doesn't have to be an Armageddon,"" Jensen delicately unfurls a framework for healthy rediscovery-of self, of purpose, of our societies, and of a shared humanity among all in their honest pursuit toward truth experiencing changes. Acting both as a standalone experience and a prelude to his forthcoming work Heaven in Earth, this book sets the stage for a symphony.

Author Information

Benjamin Jensen was born in Syracuse, Utah, but half-jokingly considers himself ""made in Ogden"" where he now resides enjoying its diverse art scene and close proximity to the Wasatch mountains. A graduate of Weber State University, Jensen holds an Associate of Arts in Spanish and a Bachelor of Arts in English, reflecting his deep appreciation for language, communication, culture, and storytelling. Jensen is passionate about creating meaningful connections, whether it's through quality time with family and friends or engaging with the world around him. An avid trail runner, he finds both peace and adventure along the Wasatch Front, the surrounding mountain ranges, and the scenic paths of Antelope Island-when the bugs permit. A lover of the outdoors, Jensen can often be found tucked away in nature's nooks with a good book, around a campfire, or simply soaking in the quiet beauty of nature. He finds inspiration in the arts, finds clarity in writing, and has a deep passion for music. Curiosity and teaching others what means most to him are a driving force in his life, and he approaches the world with a sense of wonder and an eagerness to discover. Muralist and Illustrator. Artist.
