Laurie Cowin wrote The Grief Monster after her beloved husband, Brian, died from a sudden cardiac event just before his 40th birthday. While navigating her grief and helping their young sons, ages 4 and 8 months when Brian died, navigate theirs, Laurie saw a need for more children's picture books about grief. Laurie lives her sons, dog and their grief monsters in Pennsylvania. This is her first picture book. Robin Hann León is an illustrator and art director who began her career as a commercial photographer, which took her on many adventures both in the United States and in Peru.
