OverviewThere once was a semi-intelligent form of life that lived on a gorgeous, bejeweled blue rock orbiting a yellow dwarf star located in the arm of a barred spiral galaxy. Soon after they emerged from the depths of gross barbarity, this species - taking a fatal misstep - succumbed to hubris and misapprehension of every kind imaginable. Utterly deluded in their tyrannical avarice, they became addicted to poison and began to go mad, trading life for death with the voracity of blind error. In fanatically pursuing hallucinations of their own invention, they managed to vacate the sacred from every aspect of their lives. Their world was thus profaned and polluted, and their lives, absolutely sterilized of all meaning and empathy, had become what can only be described as living deaths. First slowly and then more rapidly, and finally with frightful celerity, they smote and ruined their dewy planet, steadily and methodically preparing the way for their own extinction. What they distractedly called ""progress"" was in fact the frenzied excavation of their own burial site. Nonetheless, the venerable soul of their ancient green world simply smiled knowingly and persisted undeterred along nature's proper course, looking on dispassionately as another form arose and then passed away in the stately procession of her turquoise realm. This collection of poems records the impressions of one soul from among this race who tried with all his being to resist the macabre decadence and thwart the ultimate destruction of his kind. These poems recount his fevered despairs and unbowed imaginings as he attempted, feebly and hopelessly, through the terrible clangor of entropy and the garbled noise of a furious world, to recalibrate his spirit and return to the way of Life. This frantic dispatch represents the final attempt of a failing species to modulate the trajectory of its perverted development and somehow reverse the course of its ghastly collapse. Please let this catastrophe find meaning by taking these overwrought, dejected words as harbingers of some future life.
