OverviewThe book is a study of the medieval material remains of the four main mendicant orders in Ireland, from their arrival around 1224 to the dissolution of the religious orders in 1540. It represents a novel approach to the subject of mendicantism in Ireland in general, and of the settlement of the mendicant orders in east Munster in particular, combining historical, architectural and archaeological methods to study not only the buildings of the friars, but also the impact they had on their environment. In doing so, it also contributes to our understanding of the wider medieval Irish landscape. Full Product DetailsAuthor: Anne-Julie LafayePublisher: Brepols N.V. Imprint: Brepols N.V.
