It is gratifying to see that CIPL/PICL and the BL/LB editorial team spare no efforts in pursuing the goals of maximal exhaustiveness, speedy publication, and efficient indexing. At a time when science administrators and selection or nominating committees look down upon so-called 'unoriginal' work, such as bibliography compiling, (critical) text editing, or reviewing (!), it is not superfluous to stress the crucial importance of such types of activity: not only do they provide the basis for true and serious scholarship, they also make possible the transmission of information between generations of scholars, as well as between schools, traditions and (national) habits of research. Browsing through the BL/LB is always an eyeopener: it stimulates one to engage in further readings, to extend one's fields of 25.
