Reviews

The intention behind the recipes, ingredients, even its images (the book's stunning photos are done by Kristin Teig and bewitching illustrations by Kim Thompson), are enough to immediately draw you in. With divinity in mind, McBroom and Holm designed a book meant to encourage positive energy as you pull cards from a tarot deck and make your way through their book. -Teen Vogue Courtney McBroom has that rare ability to create dishes that are delicious, captivatingly fun, and also completely doable at home. With Divine Your Dinner she, with coauthor and tarot expert Melinda Lee Holm, finds one more trick to add to her arsenal, and that's mapping out the recipes that fit your tarot reading. Pull the Knight of Wands and you'll be making a Flaming Mai Tai party cake. There, your next dinner party is set. -Kate Krader, food editor, Bloomberg If you don't know Courtney McBroom, you must be under some evil spell. From her Texan taco heartbeat to her formal fine dining prowess, Courtney's spirit has always been equal parts curious, crafty, and musing (with a wink on the side). Oh, did I mention every recipe she writes turns the basics into deliciousness and pairs perfectly with Melinda Lee Holm's magickal prowess? That's true too, but don't take it from me, take it from them. They're just inside, waiting to inspire your next dinner party, coffee table read, or divine deep dive. -Christina Tosi, chef/owner of Milk Bar This cookbook is equal parts magickal and practical, guaranteed to shake off the dread of home cooking that so many of us face. Draw a tarot card, cast a spell, and then cast your ingredients towards the plethora of delicious recipes throughout the cookbook, or follow your intuition to make your own kitchen magick with some guidance from Holm and McBroom. -Helen Hollyman, Editor-in-Chief, Thrillist I am IN LOVE with everything about Divine Your Dinner-and that says a lot considering I own hundreds of cookbooks and Tarot decks! This gorgeous Tarot-inspired cookbook will transform dinner into something enchanting. -Theresa Reed, author of Tarot: No Questions Asked: Mastering the Art of Intuitive Reading There have been several kitchen Tarots and cooks' Tarots, but this is the real thing. The authors clearly love Tarot, food, and magick-both the 'high' magick of the occult tradition and the grounded life magick of witches and others who know the potency and life power of food and spells with food, prepared with attention and love. Let Courtney McBroom and Melinda Lee Holm teach you these powerful connections, and then let the cards guide you to creating the perfect magickal meal. -Rachel Pollack, author of Seventy Eight Degrees of Wisdom In this lighthearted debut, tarot reader Holm and chef McBroom invoke a delightful mix of tarot-inspired dishes designed to 'integrat[e] purpose into your palate.' Home cooks are encouraged to choose their own adventure. Even if readers aren't converted, there's lots to appreciate in this entertaining collection. -Publishers Weekly
