Overview

Luther Blalock has been a solitary vampire since eighteen fifteen. Turned and left to fend for himself, he has no knowledge of what has happened to him or how to survive. When he can no longer control his hunger, he turns to animal blood and vows never to use a human for sustenance. Lavender McLendon is a curious young woman who steps into danger when she tries to sneak a peek of the recluse who lives on the farm near her. A man she has been warned is evil. Luther discovers her hiding in the woods and sends her away, but not before their eyes meet, sparking a connection neither can deny. The vampire hunters who destroyed Luther's maker before his transformation was complete are still lurking and have sworn to end his life as well. Now, Lavender is in their sights, and some of the hunters have other plans for her.
