Overview

Leslie was seventeen and eight months pregnant when her mother gave her thirty days to leave the family home because she didn't pay her twenty five dollars weekly rent on time. She moved out, and eighteen days later, she became the mother of a baby boy. She married her son's father but didn't realize that she had made the biggest mistake of her life until much later. As a girl, her life was plagued with continual trouble, mental and physical abuse, dysfunction and distress. As a young mother, she was committed to giving her son what she didn't have.....a stable upbringing. Although her husband was gainfully employed, he could not read....and that made things more stressful for her. For years she felt like she was raising two children.....her son and his father. Something had to give. Leslie did not know that when she decided to get divorced when her son was ten years old, that her ex-husband to try to destroy her relationship with their son. Her own mother would lodge a complaint against her when her son was thirteen, that could have had dire consequences for her. After trying for close to four years to remain a steadfast positive figure in her son's life, Leslie let go, and let God handle things. Eventually the story has a somewhat happy ending.
