She has worked at the Middle East Technical University, Ankara, where she also completed her PhD. She has recently been a researcher on a project to improve the conditions of asylum-seeker women and children in Van, and she has published in both Turkish and English on issues relating to gender and space relations, urban culture, women's history and everyday life in the Turkish context.
