Overview

Many people who visit wineries in the Texas Hill Country know and enjoy the social aspect of drinking a glass of exquisite wine along with some delicious food. Friends, spouses and even family members consider wineries as a sophisticated place to interact and socialize in a comfortable setting. Many of the owners have designed their tasting areas as places of enjoyment and cheerfulness. While drinking quality wines one can also view pieces of art on the walls, a great variety of wine related gifts, clothing and books. Many tour vehicles for special groups can be seen in parking areas at all the wineries. On some days one needs to drive around awhile to find an open space. For those who have not visited a winery, I can assure you that it is a unique experience and you will probably make some repeated visits. People who drink wine and travel in the United States or abroad tend to visit wineries wherever they travel. You may even walk out with a bottle or two of your favorite wine!!

John F. Aceti was born in Niagara Falls, New York. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York at Fredonia and his Master's degree from the University of Buffalo. He retired to the Texas Hill Country in 1993 following a thirty-four year career as a teacher, school administrator and as an educational consultant. John has served as an adjunct professor at several universities in New York State. He has written a number of articles for state and national administrative educational journals. He also is the author of four other books. He and his wife Carol have served as volunteers in China, Italy and Poland as teachers of English as a second language. They also have participated in Mission Awareness Programs in El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Bolivia. John has been an active Rotarian for forty-five years at the local, district and international levels. Both he and Carol participate in community organizations and church activities and they enjoy traveling the world.
